Word Drop Game Overview
In Word Drop, you will attempt to “drop” an assigned secret word into a brief conversation, while your opponents try to figure out which word was assigned. Below is a general overview of the game. More detailed rules can be found in the rulebook.
Secret Word Team:
There are two teams in Word Drop - the secret word team and the guessing team. The secret word team’s job is to cleverly weave their assigned word into a conversation, keeping its use as natural as possible so it won't stand out to the guessing team. Within the secret word team, one player is the “first player” who must say the secret word. Their teammates are there to guide the conversation and support them so they can drop the word successfully.
The secret word is decided by drawing a card from the deck, then using the number on the top card of the deck to decide which of the words on the card is used. In the above example, the top card of the deck has an “8” on it, so the eighth word on the drawn card is the secret word! The guessing team will then start off the three minute conversation.
Guessing Team:
The guessing team’s objective is simple - figure out which of the words the first player used was the secret word! Doing this requires careful attention to the conversation. When playing amongst friends or family, you may even be able to make solid guesses based on differences from the first player's usual way of speaking! The guessing team has three attempts to successfully guess the word - if they manage to get it right, they win! If they can't figure it out, the secret word team wins!
